Textbook: Hacking Mathematics, your free, web-based text for Liberal Arts Mathematics, available at http://www.math.fsu.edu/~wooland/hm/hm.html .
This course covers set theory; symbolic logic; counting principles; permutations and combinations; probability; statistics; geometry; applications and history of mathematics. Course is not intended for students whose programs require precalculus or calculus courses. This course is especially intended for students who will major in areas which do not require further mathematics.
Unit I: Course introduction - What is math? .Sets, subsets their operations and diagrams.Logic and conditional statements
Unit 2: Arguments and reasoning, Euler diagrams, premises and conclusions. Geometry, area and volume. Graphs and charts. Central tendency (basic statistics)
Unit 3: Statistical distributions
Unit 4: Counting and combinatorial problems. Probability. Conditional probability.
Unit 5: Data analysis
