This is a fundamental statistics course with emphasis on applications of basic statistical concepts and
procedures to biological sciences. No statistical background is assumed for taking this course. Descrip-
tive statistics, probability theory, Normal and Binomial distributions, and Central Limit Theorem will
be introduced. Procedures to be covered in this course include one-sample and two-sample t-tests,
chi-square goodness-of-t test and test of independence, analysis of variance (ANOVA), correlation
analysis, linear regression analysis and nonparametric testing procedures.

We will be using R under the RStudio IDE in this course. R commands will be covered during lab
hours with the relevant topic. Homework and projects may be completed using R. R and RStudio are
free and available to download online.
Final grades will be computed as follows:
Homework 10%
Labs and Project Grade 30%
Exams 60% (30% for each exam, and 2 exams total)
